Special Guests

To keep our music fresh and exciting we frequently perform with guest musicians, allowing our duo to appear as a trio, quartet, quintet or more. It is a great privelege for us to jam and share a stage with such wondereful musicians - and we'd like to thank them for rehearsing with us, performing with us, and making us sound a whole lot better! Below are a few of our favourite guests (in no particular order) that have put the 'Co' in Hamer & Co:

 

Born in Jersey, Sam de la Haye is a London-based singer/songwriter, whose blues-inspired soaring vocals combined with intelligent lyrics and neat piano driven tunes have seen her described as "Beautiful" by Neil Sedaka. Her ability to both evoke emotive response and entertain thoroughly has wooed crowds on tours of America and Ireland as easily as it has in local London venues. Sam has worked with Ray Davies, performed at top London hotels including The Savoy and already released a debut album under her own name...

 

Ruby Yardley

Ruby was born in Plymouth, and moved to London where she was signed to CBS records in the 1980s. She has recorded at Abbey Road, toured with producer Joe Jackson, and has supported huge names such as The Clash. Ruby has entertained audiences everywhere from small pubs to the ICA. Alongside her singing she has an ongoing affinity for fashion, and after running her own business in London, she now co-runs fantastic local vintage/retro clothes business, Frockaholics Anonymous. Among her favourite recording artists are: Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald...


Rosie Corlett

A classically trained singer who has entertained audiences from London to Paris. Born and raised in Toulouse, France, Rosie underwent 8 years of vocal training with acclaimed French singer, Anne Faget. She moved to London in 2003 and sung for various outfits for events at the Millenium Mayfair, Millenium Knightsbridge and The Royal Garden Hotel. Rosie released a self-penned album, 'Night Waters' in 2008. She spent a couple of years fronting the ska band Circus Of Sound and then fronted gypsy jazz band Hamer & Isaacs, performing all the UK hotspots and releasing two albums. Rosie has performed with Andrew Lincoln, Jon Monie, Krupa Pattani, James Loye and many others...


Robin MacLennan

Robin is a classically trained Scottish percussionist, completing a masters in performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. He has worked in many musical settings, ranging from classical and orchestral style, to world music, jazz and contemporary genres. Robin can be seen regularly performing around London with all different bands...


MikeTrevarthen

Mike is a versatile percussionist and guitarist based in Devon. He has guested with many local outfits through a broad range of styles, including Desperate Measures and The Bad Band...  

 

Kitty Heardman

Kitty is a classically trained violinist and singer who regularly performs with orchestras throughout the South West and is also leader of a string quartet. She enjoys playing and singing in a wide range of musical styles, but Django Reinhardt and Cole Porter are amongst her favourites. In addition to being a musician, Kitty is also an artist, painting abstracts in acrylics and textures based on natural phenomena. In her free time she enjoys horse riding and rock climbing...

 

Jonothan Cripps

Jonothan is an experienced keyboard-player who performs with a diverse range of bands. He can be seen performing all over the Uk with various projects. Jonothan is also an accomplished Actor and Director, and founder of the Aporia Theatre Collective...

Jack Rosewarne-Hebb

Jack "Jackal" Rosewarne Hebb has worked as a session percussionist for the most part of his young life. Inspired by the styles of Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa, he has developed a long-standing love for all thing Jazz (Except Bebop). He has played percussion for a number of different bands ranging from Folk, Funk and Rock to Jazz, rockabilly and Samba. Jack can also be found roaming the world of theatrics as a composer/performer...

 

Ian Pettit

Ian discovered jazz at college, when he was supposed to be studying classical music. He started on trumpet but these days prefers the more mellow flugel horn. Along with contemporary jazz he can now be found playing in funk, blues, reggae and punk bands, as well as writing and recording his own stuff. His heroes include Chet Baker, Art Farmer and Gerald Presencer...

 

Howard Kahn

Howard Kahn is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and composer from Bedford. Primarily a Pianist, he has been performing live for over twenty years as a soloist and with a variety of groups as well as constantly writing music in many different styles. Some of his orchestral works have been recorded and performed in Bedford. Now based in Plymouth, whilst recording his first album, Howard can be spotted all over the Southwest playing bass for Dubclass, bass/vocals for his fantastic rockin' blues band, History Of Lies, and as a regular guest playing double bass with Hamer & Co...

 

Hannah Sterry

Hannah Sterry is a fantastic musician, photographer and cartoonist based in South Devon, UK. She regularly plays jazz flute and harp with a variety of local music groups including The Sterry's and Ansa Back...

 

Becky Brine

Becky studied music and theatre at Bristol and at Dartington College of Arts. She has a huge and varied repertoire, from the 1920's to the present day. Becky has released three albums, not to mention her countless guest appearances, and she has performed everywhere from on a train to the Birmingham Jazz Festival.
